Hubballi: Congress leader Altaf Kittur withdrew his nomination as an independent candidate from Hubballi Central constituency today, following a meeting with former CM Jagadish Shettar, MLA Prasad Abbayya, and DCC president Altaf Hallur.
According to sources, Altaf Kittur was convinced by the leaders to withdraw his nomination after being upset over the party denying him a ticket. The last date for withdrawal of nominations was today.
There were concerns that Kittur’s candidature could split minority votes and adversely affect Shettar’s election results. Close sources confirmed that Kittur had withdrawn his nomination.
