Hubballi: Former chief minister Jagadish Shettar received a warm welcome from Congress party leaders and workers as he arrived in Hubballi on Monday. This was Shettar’s first visit to the city after joining the Congress party and receiving the party’s ticket for the upcoming elections.
As soon as Shettar stepped out of the airport lobby, party workers gathered in large numbers and raised slogans in support of Shettar and the Congress party.
Shettar, who is slated to file his nomination as a Congress candidate on April 19, revealed that he had not yet been given any specific tasks by the party leaders. However, he stated that he joined the Congress party due to feeling humiliated and ill-treated by his former party. While he did not disclose the names of the individuals responsible for his departure from his former party, he mentioned that he would reveal their names later.
Shettar planned to visit Moorusavir Math and meet Rambhapuri Jagadguru. He would also be participating in a procession alongside MLA Prasad Abbayya, who is filing his nomination as a candidate for the Hubballi-Dharwad (East) constituency.
Several prominent Congress party leaders were present at the airport to welcome Shettar, including Hubballi-Dharwad Congress party city district president Altaf Hallur, rural district president Anil Kumar Patil, Vidyanagar Block Congress president Rajat Ullagaddimath, Sadanand Danganavar, Girishgadigeppa Goudar, Prakash Kyarkatti, Devaki Yoganand, and others. The warm reception of Shettar by the Congress party workers indicates the party’s enthusiasm in welcoming him as a new member and candidate for the upcoming elections.
