In Turin, Italy, a military jet crashed during an acrobatic exercise, resulting in the tragic death of a five-year-old girl in a car on the ground, reported BBC.
The pilot survived by ejecting just before impact, causing a massive fireball near Turin Airport. The girl’s nine-year-old brother was seriously injured, and their parents suffered burns.
Initial investigations suggest a possible collision with birds, leading to engine failure. The crashed jet belonged to the Frecce Tricolori demonstration team, which had been set to mark 100 years of the Italian air force, an event now canceled. Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini, expressed deep sorrow.
