Hubballi: The Inter-Ministerial Central Team accessed the damaged crops and infrastructure in the Dharwad district on Friday.
The team, comprising of Guruprasad J, an officer from the Union Jal Shakti Ministry, and Mahesh Kumar from the Finance Ministry, assessed damage to the crops due to excessive rainfall. They interacted with the farmers and got firsthand information from them, and they listened to the plights of the farmers.
The team also visited areas in the city where roads were damaged. Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil and ZP CEO Sushila were also briefed about the damage the rains had caused to the property and crops in the district. They also briefed the team about the damage via a photo gallery and a presentation set up at the inspection bungalow.
Briefing the media, the Deputy Commissioner said that in the district, as many as 93,000 farmers have received compensation of Rs 72 crore so far, and Rs 12 crore has been disbursed to the people who have lost their shelters due to excessive rainfall.
