Hubballi: On Sunday, Union Minister for Textiles, Commerce, and Industry, Piyush Goyal visited the city to gather suggestions from the industrial community for the creation of an election manifesto in the run-up-to the assembly election. However, the response from the industrialists in the twin cities was lukewarm.
The meeting was delayed by almost an hour due to the minister’s prior engagement in the city, which led to almost half of the hall being empty, causing concern among party workers.
During the meeting, Goyal assured the industrialists of the BJP’s unwavering support for them and their businesses. He also requested their suggestions to develop a strong election manifesto. Having previously run a small industry himself, Goyal claimed to understand the problems faced by the industrialists.
Goyal praised Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for providing assistance to the industries in tranches during the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasized that the BJP government always brings policies favorable to the industries and industrialists.
Furthermore, Goyal urged the people of Karnataka to vote for BJP with a clear mandate, like the one given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, enabling bold and revolutionary steps and reforms. This would ensure the progress of the developmental works initiated by the Bommai government, he added.
The meeting was attended by Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa, Mayor Iresh Anchatgeri, BJP leaders Jayathirth Katti, Sanjay Kapatkar, Dr Mahesh Nalwad, and others.
