Varanasi, 7 May (HS): At the Dashashwamedh Ghat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s younger brother Pankaj Modi and other family members conducted the ‘Pind Daan’ rites of their late mother Heeraben and father Damodar Das Modi.
Last December 30, the Prime Minister’s mother died. His brother and other family members finished the rites on the Ganga’s banks. According to Hindu belief, ‘Pind Daan is a ritual performed to pay homage to the departed soul.
Pandit Raju Jha aided the family and prayed for the souls’ peace. Pankaj Modi and his relatives also participated in Ganga aarti and offered special prayers, thereafter.
