As soon as the Mekedatu Padayatra reached Heggnur village, Siddaramaiah, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly developed a fever. According to sources, he returned to Bengaluru for treatment on the doctors’ advice.
Reacting to media people on Siddaramaiah returning to Bengaluru, leaving the Padayatra in the middle, KPCC President DK Shivakumar said Siddaramaiah was finding it difficult to walk as he underwent angioplasty. ” Despite he was facing difficulties to walk along with us, he wanted to continue the journey with us but we insisted him to take rest and he went to Bengaluru to take rest,” said Shivakumar.
KPCC President DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah, Rajya Sabha member Mallikarjun Kharge, G Parmeshwar took part in the Padayatra. Demanding a balancing reservoir across river Cauvery at Mekedatu, the Congress launched the Mekedatu Padyatra, the Padayatra will reach Bengaluru on January 19.
