Siddaramaiah, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, was greeted warmly by his followers and admirers in his Badami Assembly seat on Monday.
The video of the former Chief Minister being greeted warmly and admirers showering him with petals has gone viral on social media. Fans gathered in great numbers, despite the drizzling, to greet him.
Following news that he will not be contesting the upcoming Assembly election from Badami, fans, supporters of the party, and residents of Badami Assembly were upset.
Fans and supporters who were heartbroken rushed to his Bengaluru residence and appealed with him to contest for the Badami Assembly seat in the next election. Siddaramaiah assured the delegation that he had not decided to contest election in any other constituency other than Badami.
In Hubballi, speaking to media persons, he once again clarified that he would contest the next Assembly election from Badami constituency and there should not be any doubt in that.
Regarding the war of words between Mandya MP Sumalathaa Ambareesh and JDS leader, former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy over the KRS damage leakage issue, Siddaramaiah said that Sumalathaa had alleged that the KRS dam is leaking due to illegal mining surrounding the dam. After her allegation, the government should have considered it seriously and should have conducted an inquiry into it.
Siddaramaiah alleged that Kumaraswamy is doing vendetta politics against Sumalathaa, as she defeated his son in the Mandya Lok Sabha election.
