Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Staff and Workers Federation has written a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging him to fulfill the Congress party’s electoral promise of providing free travel to women on government buses.
In their letter, the Federation stated that there have been incidents where bus passengers, particularly women, are refusing to purchase tickets. They mentioned instances where female passengers are pressurizing KSRTC staff, claiming that they cannot afford to pay and expecting the government to cover the ticket costs.
The Siddaramaiah government has given its preliminary approval for implementing the five key guarantees that the Congress party had promised during the campaign leading up to the assembly election.
