Idgah Issue: Prasad Abbayya, Jagadish Shettar give a miss to the meeting

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi had a meeting with party leaders and corporators at his residence on Monday

Hubballi: Hubballi Dharwad (East) MLA Prasad Abbayya, former CM Jagadish Shettar, and MLC Basavaraj Horatti gave a miss to the meeting convened by the Deputy Commissioner, Gurudatta Hegde, and ADGP (Law and order) Alok Kumar to discuss the report given by the HDMC house committee regarding the installation of the Ganesha idol at Idgah Maidan in Hubballi on Monday.

Addressing press persons, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that MLAs Abbayya and Shettar were in Bengaluru and Basavaraj Horatti was abroad, hence they did not attend the meeting. At the meeting, MLAs Arvind Bellad, Amrut Desai and MLC Pradeep Shettar attended.

The HDMC has allowed to installation of the Ganesh idol based on the report of a house committee formed by the HDMC as per the decision of its general body and it would be installed for three days. He said that both the officers invited all the elected representatives to the meeting; he said.

The police would make all the security arrangements and it is just a matter of three days and everyone should extend cooperation and celebrate the festival with peace and happiness, he appealed.

Party sources said that Joshi had a meeting with party leaders and its corporators at his residence prior to the house committee members submitting the report to the mayor. But details of the meeting were not available.

The deadline for the house committee to submit the report to the mayor was extended till 4 pm, based on the request of the members. Earlier the mayor had ordered to submit it by 11 am.
