Hubballi: On Saturday, the Hubballi Town police arrested a suspect and successfully solved a cooperative bank theft case.
The police reported that the accused had previously been involved in similar cases of breaking and entering in Halyal, Kumta, and Malamaruti police station areas.
The accused gained entry into the Mahantappa Urban Co-Op Credit Society, situated on the second floor of Umachagi police station on Coen Road, by breaking open the lock of the shutters. The thief made off with Rs 2.31 lakh that was stored in the bank’s locker. However, the police team, led by Inspector Vishwanath Chogula, was able to recover Rs 1.35 lakh from the suspect after the arrest.
