Hubballi Town police arrest five young men who turned thieves to live lavish life


Hubballi: They are all in their early twenties and were all sent to a juvenile correctional facility for theft. In the juvenile home, they became friends. When they were released, they formed their own team and began stealing valuables in order to live a lavish life.

The Town Police apprehended the five members of the gang that was on a stealing spree on Wednesday. The police team led by Anand M. Onakudre arrested them. The gang was involved in a series of thefts that happened in the twin cities recently.

With the arrest of these accused, Inspector Anand Onakudre and his team have solved a total of nine theft cases, of which eight were registered at various police stations in Hubballi and Dharwad and one at Malamaruti station in Belagavi.

The police said that they stole some high-end bikes to break into shops and houses. After finishing their work, they used to flee on these bikes. The team had recently stolen valuables by breaking into a house in Santosh Nagar in the Ashok Nagar police station limits, and the police were searching for the miscreants rigorously.

The police said that they got some information from someone about a young man who does not go to work but leads a lavish life. The police started monitoring him and started gathering details about him and his activities with this tip; the police got the initial breakthrough in the case. They brought him to the station and, during interrogation, the man confessed to the crime and revealed the details of other members of the team.

The police have recovered gold and silver items worth Rs 1.50 lakh, cash worth Rs 12,000 and four bikes worth Rs 3.50 lakh. The bikes include a Suzuki Gixxer, Pulsar, and Dio.

The police have solved three theft cases registered each at the Town police station, Vidyanagar; one each at Dharwad Sub Urban, Ashok Nagar, and Malamaruti station, Belagavi, with the arrest of these accused. This team unsuccessfully tried to break into a medical store within Keshwapur police station limits and their act was caught on CCTV camera. Police Commissioner Labhu Ram hailed the policemen for solving the cases.
