Hubballi Sub Urban police arrest two for duping government job aspirants

Hubballi: The Sub Urban Police have arrested two persons for allegedly cheating an unemployed youth on the pretext of providing a government job in the Employees’ Provident Funds Organisation.

The police had received a complaint on February 3 from Vittal Harijan, a native of Moodalagi taluk in Belagavi district and now residing in Hubballi, that he and his friend Subash Harijan were cheated by two youths. The complainant alleged that the cheaters had taken Rs 6.40 lakh from them, promising them clerk jobs at EPFO, but they neither provided the job nor returned the amount.

Vittal had given Rs 5.50 lakh and Subash had given Rs 90,000 to the cheaters.

The Sub Urban police registered a case, started an investigation, and arrested the accused within 24 hours. They arrested two accused, one from Belagavi and another from Ghataprabha.
