Hubballi: The Kasabapet police have successfully apprehended a swindler who deceived a resident of Nekar Nagar by promising a job in the Railway Department.
The accused, identified as Prashant Laxmanrao Deshpande, 38, hailing from Vijayapura district, managed to extract Rs 31.14 lakh from the victim, a resident of Nekar Nagar, by falsely claiming to have influential connections within the Railway Department. He further assured the victim of securing a job, presenting counterfeit appointment letters and joining documents from the department.
Upon discovering the fraud, the victim promptly reported the incident to the Kasabapet police. Inspector Raghavendra Hallur led a dedicated team of officers who successfully apprehended the accused. Presently, the accused is in judicial custody.
Law enforcement authorities have revealed that the accused has a history of employing similar fraudulent tactics to deceive multiple individuals. Additional cases against him have been registered at the Ripponpet police station in Shivamogga and Bagalkot’s Navanagar police station.
