Hubballi: Kasabapet police have solved the murder of an elderly woman who was discovered dead in her house in Ranadamma Colony two months ago.The police arrested her cousin Mahantayya Chikkamath, 54, a resident of Gambyapura in Kalaghtagi taluk, in connection with the murder of Kamalamma Hebballimath, 72.
According to the police, Chikkamath, an alcoholic addict, had killed her aunt to get the gold ornaments she was wearing. On the night of the murder, the accused stayed at the victim’s house and murdered her while she was fast asleep by repeatedly slamming a rolling pin on her head and neck. He escaped from the house after removing the bormala chain and earrings the victim was wearing.
The accused was nabbed by the police team led by Inspector Raghavendra Hallur in Belagavi this afternoon. He was produced before a judge, who sent him to judicial custody.
