Hubballi: The eighth edition of the half marathon, which was conducted by the Hubballi Fitness Club on Sunday in the city, became a never-before-seen event. Around 2,600 participants take part in various categories of the marathon.
The eighth edition, conducted to promote health awareness and encourage teenagers, drew a sizable attendance.
The race was divided into three categories: 21.1 km, 10 km, and 5 km. There were separate monetary rewards for different age divisions. 21.1K run (men and women): 18-34; 34-44; 45-59; 60+; 10K run (men and women): 18-34; 34-44; 45-59; 60+; 5K run (boys and girls): 12-14; 15-17; 18+.
Because of COVID, the half marathon event was not held in the last two years. VRL Logistic Company secretary Aniruddh Fadnavis, Deshpande Foundation founder Dr Gururaj Deshpande, Hubballi Fitness Club president, neurosurgeon Dr SP Baligar, founder member, and radiologist Dr GC Patil flagged off the event from KLE Institute of Technology on Airport Road.
