Hubballi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that Hubballi-Dharwad are the future cities of Karnataka and they will be developed into megacity.
He announced this while addressing the gathering after inaugurating the new buildings of the Kasabapet and South Traffic police stations and after laying the foundation stone for Gokul Road, Vidyanagar, and Hubballi rural police stations on Sunday evening.
He said the state government has identified Hubballi-Dharwad, Mangaluru, and Belagavi as potential cities, and for these cities, an extended master plan should be prepared. The CM did not elaborate on the mega city plan, but he said that the plans for this would be chalked out soon. He also assured the public that the state government is planning to build six new cities across the state.
The CM also said that an FMCG cluster in Hubballi-Dharwad will be ready in another two months. A Special Investment Region would also come up in Dharwad district. Itigatti will be developed into an industrial city. Tenders for the construction of the regional centre of the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Science would be floated soon, he said.
The CM said that the cybercrime police station would be established at the South Traffic police station building. The state government is planning to provide Rs 50 crore as part of the mobility plan so that the police department can buy new vehicles.
