Hubballi: KPCC President DK Shivakumar said that this evening (Sunday) Congress party’s newly formed election committee will chair its maiden meeting in Belagavi. The committee will discuss screening ticket aspirants’ applications and selecting the candidates, he said.
Speaking to reporters at the airport before leaving for Bagalkote district, the KPCC president said that the meeting will be held under the leadership of AICC general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala.
The applications would be sent to the districts to get a report from the block presidents, and later the names would be screened, he said, adding that the AICC is also considering forming a team to get the opinions of the party leaders in connection with finalising the candidates.
He stated that a convention will be held on December 30 in Vijayapura district to discuss the Krishna river dispute; later, a convention will be held on January 2 to resolve the Mahadayi water dispute; and a rally for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be held on January 8 in Chitradurga.
