Hubballi: The CID Forest Unit police have arrested five people for allegedly trying to sell articles made of elephant ivory and recovered 1,125 grams of ivory craft material.

The forest mobile squad led by DySP Muttanna Savargol arrested the accused near the Old Bus Stand on Wednesday evening. The accused have been identified as Sat Jamadar, Vijay Kumbar, and Sagar Paranik, all residents of Kolhapur; Vinayak Kamble and Danji Patil, both residents of Nippani.

The officers said that during their inquiry, Sat Jamadar informed them that his father, Shahzan Jamadar, had collected these works of art by visiting fairs and markets in Rajasthan; they had been in his house for a long period of time, and he wanted to sell them to make quick money, they said.
