Hubballi: A person was detained by the Cyber, Economics, and Narcotic crime (CEN) police for defrauding another person of Rs 12.35 lakh.
The accused was apprehended in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district. MS Hugar, the CEN station inspector, and his team apprehended him. The cops recovered a laptop, three mobile phones, and other equipment.
According to the police, the accused defrauded the gullible by promising engineering consultancy and supervisory tenders for the construction of cold storage and central stores in Shine India Goods, Infra Private Limited Company, and other companies.
The accused had requested the victim to send the money as an EMD, tender document fee, and the victim had sent money to the fraudster’s account to the tune of Rs.12.35 lakh, but the victim did not get the tender or the money back when he asked the fraudster to return it.
When the victim discovered that he had been duped by this individual, he reported it to the police.
