Hubballi: BJP stalwart and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, B S Yediyurappa (BSY), called an impromptu meeting with Veerashaiva Lingayat leaders at a hotel on Gokul Road in Hubballi on Tuesday evening. The meeting saw Yediyurappa urging members of the community to reject former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who recently joined the Congress party.
BSY accused Shettar of betraying the BJP, despite being given significant positions of power, including an offer of a Rajya Sabha membership and a party ticket for one of his family members. He urged the people to teach Shettar a lesson in the upcoming elections, and not to support his act of defecting to the Congress.
The veteran BJP leader is scheduled to hold rallies on April 26, where he will campaign for the party’s candidate Mahesh Tenginkai. Meanwhile, the state BJP chief, Nalin Kumar Kateel, will also be in Hubballi to canvass for the party’s candidates.
