Hubballi: Three people were killed on the spot after a car in which they were travelling collided with a wall of a Darga. The accident happened near Jigaluru village on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway on Saturday night.
The deceased have been identified as Hanumantappa Bevinkatti, 76, a retired staff nurse of KIMS Hospital; his wife Renuka Bevinkatti, 70; she also worked as a staff nurse at KIMS; both are residents of Navanagar; and their son-in-law Ravindra, 50, AEE, Karnatak University, Dharwad. There were four passengers in the car. The accident happened when they were returning to Hubballi from Bengaluru after attending a house-warming ceremony. Hanumantappa was behind the wheels, said the police.
The wall of the darga was damaged due to the impact of the accident. Police said rash and negligent driving and the rain could be the reasons for the accident. In the accident, Arundathi, the wife of Ravindra, suffered serious injuries. She has been admitted to a hospital.
Kundagol police have registered a case in this regard.
