Dharwad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone for an off-campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Dharwad on January 28, said Parliamentary Affairs, Mines, and Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi.
Speaking to reporters after inspecting the site for South India’s first NFSU at the Karnataka University here on Sunday afternoon, Joshi said that the university established in Gujarat has eight campuses, and the one that will be established here will be the ninth. The campus requires more than 50 acres of land. He claims that if the NFSU is established here, it will be the first highly sophisticated university in south India.
This 50 acres of land will have class rooms, an administration building, labs, and hostels for staff and students, said Joshi.
The district administration recommended the land belonging to Karnatak University and UAS Dharwad, and he also inspected the land. The final location would be finalised after discussing it with the Deputy Commissioner, he said.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has given its nod to establishing the off-campus NFSU. The central government’s expert team will visit the district, and they will finalise the blueprint for the campus. The union minister announced that the off-campus school would be transformed into a full-fledged university.
The minister himself inspected two land pieces belonging to Karnatak University and one belonging to UAS; the administration will choose one of these three. The minister also instructed the district administration to make all the preparations for the ground-breaking ceremony, as Amit Shah himself will perform the Bhoomi Pooja.
