Gadag: On Tuesday, a few students from a government Urdu school in Gadag returned home without attending classes because they were not permitted to enter the classroom while wearing hijabs.
According to DDPI Basvalingappa, as many as seven students returned home because they did not want to attend class without wearing a hijab. Their parents requested that their children be allowed to attend class because they were wearing veils instead of hijabs, and the veil is part of the uniform, thus they should be permitted to do so. However, the teacher refused their request, citing the court’s order.
Tahsildar Kishan Kalal visited the school, but the students and their parents had already left, according to sources.
