Hubballi: The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) is all set to rev up voter participation in the upcoming assembly election! And guess what they’re using to spread the word? Their very own garbage collection auto-tippers!
That’s right! HDMC’s auto-tippers will now double up as messengers of voting awareness, playing catchy jingles that will have everyone tapping their feet and nodding their heads to the beat. These jingles will highlight the importance of voting, urge people to report election-related illegal activities and encourage them to enroll their names into the voters’ list.
But that’s not all! HDMC’s Commissioner, Dr Gopal Krishna, revealed that the auto-tippers have a wider reach as they collect garbage door-to-door. This means that their message will reach every nook and corner of the twin cities, sensitizing and motivating people to exercise their right to vote.
And the recorded audio message is not just targeting everyone but especially those who turned 18 on April 1, 2023. The message will appeal to them to register themselves and vote by filling out the prescribed form.
Dr Gopal Krishna also added that the HDMC would be setting up hoardings at prominent places to further sensitise the voters about the importance of voting and the C-Vigil app through which they can report illegal activities.
With 216 garbage collection auto-tippers ready to spread the word, HDMC is leaving no stone unturned to make sure everyone knows their vote matters!
