Hubballi: The much-anticipated mayoral election for the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation is expected to take place between January 10 and 15.
Sources at the HDMC confirmed to www.hubliexpress.com that the election for the post will take place within this time frame. There was some confusion over the reservation for the post. Suresh Itnal, the HDMC Commissioner, has sought clarification from the Urban Development Department, and the Regional Commissioner will issue the election notification.
Commissioner Itnal stated that he spoke with department officials and that the UD is likely to clear up the uncertainty within a few days.
The HDMC election results were announced four months ago, and the new corporators have been awaiting their oath of office ever since. Aspirants for the mayoral election are awaiting election notification. For the past two years, the HDMC has been run without an elected body.
