Hubballi: The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has issued a notice to the property owner for removing the chimney of the Mahadeva Textile Mill (MT Mill) without their permission. The famous chimney, which had become a city landmark, was demolished late Tuesday night, and a video of the famous chimney being demolished with explosives went viral on social media.
Mahadeva Textile Mill was started in the year 1898, and the chimney remained even after the mill was closed. The mill is located on MT Sagar, village register number 15, CTS number 98. The HDMC has issued a notice to the owner of this property for not obtaining their permission for demolishing the huge structure.
The corporation said that it is mandatory to seek permission from the competent authority before demolishing any structure, and they came to know about the demolition. And they did a site inspection in this regard, and the corporation asked the owner to submit the property documents for verification within seven days to the corporation and maintain the status quo on the site until the documents were verified.
