Hubballi: The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has invited objections, suggestions, and instructions from the public and organizations for its proposed naming of ground located near Rani Chennamma Circle commonly called ” Idgah Maidan“, after freedom fighter “Rani Chennamma”
The HDMC has passed a resolution at a general body meeting held on August 25, 2022, to name the ground “Kittur Rani Chennamma Maidan.”
Altaf Hallur, city district Congress president lashed out at the BJP and the party’s HDMC members for passing such a resolution. He said the BJP government in the state has failed to deliver good governance and has no issues to fight the upcoming election. Keeping the elections in mind, they are scratching the healing wound.
The BJP is trying to divert the attention of the public from real issues that were haunting the public. And provoking sentiments of the public through this issue to gain votes, he alleged.
He said on Wednesday, Anjuman-e-Islam, Hubballi filed an objection against the proposed move of the HDMC. Hallur said the BJP always tries to create a rift between Hindus and Muslims and gain votes on emotional issues. They cleared the Dargah near Bhairidevarkoppa, installed a Ganesha idol at the Idgah, and they tried to provoke the Muslim community, but they remained quiet and calm, and people are waiting for their turn to end the misrule of the BJP government, he said.
Hallur said the BJP hardly bothers or cares about the sentiments of minorities, and they don’t believe in law, democracy, equality, or fraternity.
