HDBRTS bus involved in the accident

Hubballi: The Hubballi-Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System (HDBRTS) officials have said that HDBRTS buses are safe and today’s (Friday’s) incident of a HDBRTS (Chigari) bus emitting smoke from its engine was not a fire accident but due to a small technical fault.

The bus’s brake liners had jammed, and it had friction with the brake drums, and because of that friction, smoke started emitting from the rear side, and panicked locals immediately informed the fire and emergency department staff, the officials said, and added that the passengers of the bus were safe. They requested the public not listen to any false information and travel on the buses without worry, said Vivekanand Vishawajnya, Divisional Controller of the City Bus Transport Division.
