Update on Hawaii Wildfires: As of Monday afternoon, the death toll resulting from Maui’s devastating wildfires has reached 99 individuals, as reported by Hawaii Governor Josh Green (D).

In an earlier interview with CBS News, Governor Green indicated that specialized teams engaged in the meticulous search of the charred remains anticipate discovering an estimated 10 to 20 victims everyday in the next 10 days.

Tomorrow, the police are expected to release the names of the deceased individuals whose families have been informed. However, Maui Police Chief John Pelletier disclosed that only three out of the 99 recovered bodies have been positively identified through fingerprint analysis. Due to the severe damage inflicted on many of the remains, viable fingerprints are often not present. In light of this challenge, Chief Pelletier has made a plea to the public for DNA samples, which will aid in the identification of the remaining bodies.

The aftermath of the wildfires has left a tragic toll on the community, prompting coordinated efforts to honor and remember those who have lost their lives.
