Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Vijayanagar district-in-charge Minister Shashikala Jolle, Tourism Minister Anand Singh, Minister Govind Karjol and others released poster and logo of Hampi Utsav in Bengaluru on Friday.
Hampi Utsav, also known as Vijaya Utsava, is thought to have been held since the period of the Vijayanagar Empire perhaps, making it one of India’s oldest festivals.
When the State Government hosts the Hampi Utsava to recreate the grandeur of the ancient Vijayanagara Empire, the ruins of Hampi, a UNESCO world heritage site in central Karnataka, come alive with music and sounds of dancing.
The event has a Jumbo Saavari and performances by some of India’s most known singers, dancers, and entertainers, as well as water sports, food courts, photography competitions, Rangoli/ Mehndi competitions, and so on. Hampi Utsava attracts thousands of tourists from across the world and is one of the most famous events in Karnataka, making Hampi one of the best destinations to visit in the state.
The lit ruins of Hampi rise tall against the backdrop of the River Tungabhadra, creating a billion sparks during the Hampi Utsava. Hampi Utsava is an ode to the past of the Vijayanagara Empire, exhibiting the region’s rich tradition and culture.
This year, the three-day event begins on January 27 and Hampi is gearing up to hold the cultural extravaganza.
