Hubballi: It seems that BJP former MLA Veerabhadrappa Halaharavi is likely to join JD(S), and the former MLA’s meeting with former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy indicates that Halaharavi has decided to quit the BJP.
Halaharavi met the former CM at a private hotel near Hubballi Airport on Monday. When the scribes met and asked him about his meeting with HD Kumaraswamy, he said he went to math, and coincidentally, Kumaraswamy also came to math at the same time. The former CM asked him to join for breakfast, and I had just shira (a sweet made with semolina, sugar, and ghee); that’s it. And the meeting has no special purpose. It was just a casual meeting over breakfast.
I am a BJP ticket aspirant.
Halaharvi said that he is a strong aspirant for the BJP ticket to contest from Hubballi-Dharwad (East) constituency, and according to the survey, his name tops the list, but he was upset as the party leaders made a delay in announcing the ticket. As the west constituency has MLAs from another party and requires enough time for preparation, the chances of winning the election increase. “If the party does not give him a ticket, he will become the baby of those who holds him,” he said, adding that in the upcoming election, he would contest the election at any cost.
