Hubballi: The Gokul Road police have arrested three notorious thieves, who used to break into locked houses and steal valuables.
The police team led by Gokul Road Inspector JM Kalimirchi arrested the accused, who is from Dharwad, Haveri, and Tumkuru districts. With the arrest of the accused, the police have solved eight housebreaking theft cases registered at the various police stations in Hubballi and Dharwad, one in Belagavi, and one in Koppal.

The police seized 300 grammes of gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh, two kgs of silver articles worth Rs 1.40 lakh, two trucks worth Rs 30 lakh, one Honda City car worth Rs 6 lakh, and two television sets worth Rs 70,000. According to Inspector Kalimirchi, the total value of the recovered item is Rs 53 lakh.
They said that during the investigation, they found the accused involved in some more theft cases, and the investigation is still going on. “Of the three accused, two are relatives, and the accused from Tumkuru befriended them in jail,” said police.
How did the police nab the accused?
On February 1 (Wednesday), inspector Kaliimirchi and his team were on routine duty, checking the vehicles entering and exiting the city near the airport. The police team noticed that a white Honda City was coming towards the city from the Tarihal bypass road at a great speed. The police intervened and asked the driver to produce the documents. The driver was not able to give sufficient answers to the staff. They took all three to the police station and produced them before the judge, and they later took them to police custody and found that they were involved in housebreaking theft cases.
