Dharwad: PH Niralkeri, spokesperson for the Congress party, has demanded that the authorities account for the money spent on the National Youth Festival that was held in the twin cities.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Niralkeri said that the concerned should give details of the expense in a transparent manner, the Union Government, and state government provided grants for conducting the event. Separate donation was also collected from organizations.
He said that the Union Government has given Rs 20 crore grant to the event, this apart, contractors, and officials of various departments have collected the amount for the event, in this a irregularity might have happened, charged Niralkeri.
He also alleged that a pure government programme was misused as a political party function, so the programme’s protocol was breached.
