Hubballi: There is no question that the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation’s comprehensive solid waste management has not achieved the success that was anticipated when it was initially proposed.
The SWM plan failed to maintain the city clean even years after it was implemented. Garbage, debris, and construction materials can be seen piled on the sides of roads and on open spaces.
There may be issues with the plan’s implementation, but what is depressing is that the HDMC has done the bare minimum of efforts to simplify the system.
People are thronging to the homes of newly elected corporators, complaining about the garbage problem, and the corporators are finding it difficult to appease the people, according to the corporators.
On Thursday, Congress corporators met with HDMC Commissioner Suresh Itnal in his office to discuss the issue and urged him to take immediate action to resolve it.
Rajat Ullagaddimath, president of the Vidyanagar Block Congress, was there, as were HDMC Corporators Shivakumar Rayangoudar, Shruti Chalwadi, Mangla Hiremani, Mohammad Iqbal Navalur, Suvarna Kallakuntla, MM Bhadrapur, and others.
