Gadag: police have confiscated a whopping sum of Rs 1.45 crore in various instances. The authorities seized Rs 95 lakh cash in four different occurrences at a check-post near Dandina Duragamma temple on the outskirts of Narasapura village on Betageri-Gajendragada Road. Additionally, Rs 50 lakh cash was seized at the Dundur check-post. Sources revealed that the seized cash lacked proper documentation and investigations are currently underway. SP BS Nemagoud visited the site to assess the situation.
Moreover, the Excise Department has been actively cracking down on illegal liquor transportation in the district. From March 5 to April 4, the department confiscated 590 liters of liquor, 90.93 liters of beer, 8 liters of illicit liquor, and 22 bikes. In connection with the cases, a total of 147 cases have been registered, and 121 people have been arrested so far. The authorities are working diligently to prevent any illegal activities related to the upcoming elections by confiscating cash, liquor, and other items that could potentially influence voters.
