Gadag: The police arrested Muttappa Hadagali, who allegedly killed a student studying in class four in a school in Hagali village in Navalgund taluk.
Muttappa had beaten Bharat,9 with a shovel and later pushed him from the first floor of the school. He also attacked the boy’s mother, Geeta Barker, who was also a teacher at the school.
The accused was arrested by the Gadag police near Nargund; he had fled after the incident. Both mother and son were shifted to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi, but the boy succumbed to the injuries and the mother is still in critical condition.
Superintendent of Police Shivaprakash Devaraju confirmed to hubliexpress.com that the accused had been apprehended in a village near Nargund.Four teams were formed to nab him, and soon he would be produced before the judge.
Police sources claim that accused Muttappa and Geeta Barker had an extramarital affair. Recently, the school organised the annual trip, and during the trip, Geetha was behaving in a friendly manner with a male teacher. And this had upset Muttappa, and hence he hatched a plan to eliminate Geetha, said the police sources.
