Gadag: On Thursday, the Anti-Corruption Bureau‘s sleuths nabbed two officers from the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation(NWKRTC) when they were taking a bribe.
Both, accounts superintendent Jagdish Mailarappa Halwagali and his deputy senior account officer, Iranna Mallappa Eliballi, of the NWKRTC Gadag division, were caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000 from the victim.
ACB Superintendent BS Nemgouda and DSP of ACB Gadag division MV Mallapur led the raid.
According to the ACB, both accused demanded Rs 7,000 in order torelease the gratuity sum to the kin of conductor Nagaraj Haravi, who died two years ago. Haravi, who was very unwell, was on leave for six months and was suspended after that. After a few months, he died of illness, and his relatives went to the accounts office to get the gratuity, but the accused had put a demand for money, according to ACB officers.
This afternoon, the accused were apprehended while taking a bribe from Nagaraj Harvi’s relative.
