Hindustan Time said that he is being transferred to Assam’s Dibrugarh jail where other members of his outfit are already in custody.
The arrest comes after the recent detention of two of Singh’s aides in Mohali, Punjab, in a joint operation by Punjab and Delhi Police. On April 15, his close aide Joga Singh was arrested from Sirhind in the Fatehgarh Sahib district, and Papalpreet Singh, another close associate, was apprehended on April 10 in a joint operation by Punjab Police and its counter-intelligence unit.
The radical leader had been declared a “fugitive” since March 18, following a massive manhunt launched by Punjab Police after his supporters stormed Ajnala police station in Amritsar on February 23, demanding the release of one of his aides, Lovepreet Toofan.
