Hubballi: In a few days, space below the Unkal flyover (HDBRTS) will be a new attraction for commuters who use mixed traffic lanes to commute between Dharwad and Hubballi.
The Directorate of Urban Land Transport has decided to beautify the space; the DULT will enhance the area below the flyover at Unkal Cross and Navanagar, said officials.
The tender for the beautification work has already been invited, and soon, the pillars of the flyover will have paintings on environmental conservation, and idols will be installed in the space between the pillars. Grass will be grown, and benches will be installed in that space so that one can sit and “enjoy the scene surrounding traffic.”
The HDBRTS officials said that for public safety, grills will be placed around, and entry and exit for the public will be made from one side. Decorative lights will be installed on the poles and near the bollards for beautification at night, and “the area will be illuminated with decorative lights at night, providing a beautiful view for the public”, according to officials. They said the public and children can enjoy the beauty of Unkal Lake and Ulavi Channabasaveshwara Temple in front of the flyover.
