Belagavi: On Monday afternoon, four members of a family were washed away in the waters of the Krishna River. The incident occurred in the Athani taluk’s Haliyal village.
Four brothers belonging to the same family, according to sources, went to the river to wash their clothes and other clothing items. It is told that one brother fell into the river while washing his clothes, and the other brother tried to save him but could not stand in the strong current of water. Soon, the remaining two brothers joined their hands to save them, but all four were washed away by the powerful current.
The NDRF teams and members of the fire and emergency services departments and police officers are on the lookout for the missing brothers.
The brothers who were washed away by the river are Gopal Bansude (36), Sadashiva Bansude (24), Dhareppa Banasude (22), and Shankar Bansude (20).
