Bengaluru: Former chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa revealed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had offered its dissatisfied leader Jagadish Shettar a Rajya Sabha seat and promised to make him a union minister, but he rejected the offer.
The party even suggested giving a ticket to Shettar’s wife and urged him not to leave the party, but he refused to listen. Yediyurappa accused Shettar of betraying the party and warned that the people would teach him a lesson.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Yediyurappa clarified that they did not ask Shettar to retire from politics, but merely requested him not to contest, while simultaneously offering him a higher position. Yediyurappa criticized Shettar’s decision to join the Congress, stating that it was not the right move and that the people were watching everything.
