Flatted factory complex to come up in Dharwad with the help of Union Govt’s TIES scheme

In his maiden budget speech on Friday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that necessary plug and play infrastructure facilities with suitable common infrastructure and basic amenities would be created in the flatted factory concept (multi-story buildings where multiple non-polluting units can operate, the concept ensures easy availability of land for industries) in Bengaluru Rural, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, and Dharwad districts with the support of the Central Government’s TIES scheme.

The CM announced that special incentive packages will be offered for the industries that will come up in the much anticipated Fast Moving Consumer Goods Cluster (FMCG) that will be developed at Dharwad.

He announced the formulation of the Karnataka Special Investment Region (SIR) Act, with Dharwad to be one of the notified districts. The Karnataka Special Investment Region Act will be formulated for the establishment, operation, control, and management of mega-industrial regions and for the establishment of industrial estates in the State. “Initially, a Special Investment Region will be notified in Tumakuru and Dharwad Districts,” he said. To recall, members of the Hubballi-Dharwad Development Forum met Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and urged him to formulate the Karnataka Special Investment Region Act.
