Five members of a family drowned

Mumbai: A fire brigade officer said five members of a family, including three children, drowned in a water-filled quarry in Dombivlai, Maharashtra’s Thane district, on Saturday. According to him, the event occurred at 4 p.m. in Sandip village.
“When a mother and her daughter-in-law were washing clothes near the quarry, one of the woman’s three grandkids slipped into the water. The other four attempted to save the infant but drowned “he stated.

Mira Gaikwad (55), her daughter-in-law Apeksha (30), and their grand kids  Moksha (13), Nilesh (15) and Mayuresh (15),were among the deceased. The remains were recovered, and an accidental death complaint was filed at the Dombivli police station, according to the official.
