Five held in a burglary case in Dharwad.

Dharwad: Vidyagiri police arrested five burglars on Tuesday in connection with a house break-in theft that happened last month in the Keshav Nagar area. The thieves had stolen away golden ornaments weighing around 562 grams and cash of Rs 3 lakh by breaking open the interlock of the house.

The accused were arrested by a police team led by Vidyagiri Inspector Balangouda SM and CCB Inspector SM Chougale. The team was able to retrieve 510 grams of gold and Rs 20,000 in stone cash and golden ornaments. The police also seized two cars used in the crime, seven mobile phones, and other equipment.

Sources said that the accused were habitual offenders and that they were from Bengaluru city. The police made efforts to arrest them as the accused were not staying in one place. The sources added that the police have yet to nab two of the gang members who are still at large.

Police Commissioner Labhu Ram hailed the efforts of the team and announced a reward.
