Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been summoned by the CBI for questioning regarding alleged corruption in the capital’s alcohol sales policy.
This is the first time a Chief Minister has been summoned by the central agency. The CBI claims to have uncovered fresh evidence. The AAP has dismissed the charges as vendetta and efforts by the BJP to target their vocal critic.
The CBI is investigating allegations of kickbacks and money laundering in the liquor policy. Kejriwal has not yet commented on the summons. The summons comes amidst opposition parties’ allegations of abuse of investigating agencies ahead of next year’s elections.
