Kalaburgi: In a bid to boost employment and spur economic growth in the Kalaburgi region of Karnataka, Dr. Umesh G Jadhav, Member of Parliament, has called for the extension of the Vande Bharat Express train service from Mumbai to Solapur to Kalaburgi. Speaking at the launch of a new Textile Park in Kalaburgi, attended by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Dr. Jadhav stated that extending the train service would enable people in the area to easily reach Solapur and Pune.
The Chief Minister lauded the newly sanctioned Textile Park, highlighting its potential to create hundreds of jobs and reduce the need for locals to seek work in larger cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai. He revealed that the state government had provided 1,000 acres of land to the Union Government at no cost, adding that his administration has decided to establish textile parks in other regions of the state as well.
Union Textile Minister Piyush Goyal also praised the Textile Park in Kalaburgi, calling it a game-changer for the region’s development, with the potential to create around 3 lakh jobs directly and indirectly. Union Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Jardosh announced that the park would receive a total grant of Rs 10,000 crore until 2027-28 for infrastructure of the park.
Various companies, including Shahi Export and Hematsingka Side Ltd., Techsport Industry, KPR Mills Ltd., and Pratibha Syntex Company have pledged the investment.
The park’s establishment is also set to benefit cotton farmers in the area, according to Handloom and Textiles and Sugarcane Development and Sugar Minister Shankar B. Patil Munenakoppa. Large and Medium Industry and Kalaburgi District In-charge Minister Dr. Murugesh R. Nirani encouraged locals to establish businesses and provide employment opportunities, emphasizing the region’s potential for growth with its high cotton production and limestone reserves.
