Hubballi: Former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mohan Limbikai, is all set to join the Indian National Congress today in Belagavi.
He will join the party in the presence of senior Congress leaders such as Randeep Surjewala, DK Shivakumar, and Siddaramaiah.
Confirming the news, Limbikai spoke to Hubli Express over the phone and stated that he has resigned from the BJP and will be joining the Congress without any preconditions. He further added that he will work for the party in any capacity assigned to him. Limbikai expressed disappointment with the BJP for not utilizing his abilities to the fullest and for denying him a ticket to contest from the West Teachers’ constituency.
He also accused the BJP of lacking internal democracy and failing to acknowledge his contributions to the party. The Congress leaders are currently holding a meeting in Belagavi ahead of former AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s scheduled visit to the city on March 20th.
It is a big jolt to the BJP, as one of its senior members is all set to join the rival party ahead of the assembly election.
