Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar launched a scathing attack on Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, accusing that he has started speaking in arrogance of power. Shettar’s comments came in response to Joshi’s recent criticism of Shettar for quitting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joining the Congress.
In a press conference, Joshi had claimed that the BJP’s strike rate in North Karnataka was impressive and that some senior party members were asked to retire. Joshi had accused Shettar of changing sides and playing for the opposition team instead of retiring. Shettar responded by accusing Joshi of speaking in arrogance of power and pointing out that Joshi himself was now 60 years old. “The Parliamentary elections are not far and his fate will be known,” he said.
Shettar also refuted the BJP’s claims that he had betrayed the party, asserting that it was the party that had betrayed him. He questioned why he was denied a ticket despite his dedicated service to the party and challenged BJP leaders to provide an answer. He claimed that he had been explaining to the people of Hubballi-Dharwad Central constituency about the ill-treatment he received from the BJP, and that the people were realizing that he had been betrayed by the party.
Shettar expressed confidence in the support of the people of his constituency, whom he considered to be like family. He stated that he had a heart-to-heart connection with the people and that they would bless him in the elections. He criticized BJP leaders, including Union Minister Amit Shah, for campaigning against him and trying to defeat him, but claimed that the people had decided to vote and elect him despite the BJP’s efforts.
Shettar further accused a few individuals within the BJP of holding the party hostage and ruining its prospects. He claimed that the BJP candidate running from the central constituency was attempting to benefit from the groundwork he had laid, but asserted that the people would not allow it.
