Delhi: After Union cabinet meeting, the Centre announced a reduction of Rs200 per cylinder in cooking gas prices for all domestic consumers.
The Ujjwala scheme will now offer an additional Rs 200 subsidy, making it a total of ₹400 per cylinder for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries.
The current cost of a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder in New Delhi at Rs 1,103 will decrease to ₹903. This reduction is considered a gesture by Prime Minister Modi, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan and Onam, benefiting women across the country.
The government also plans to grant free gas connections to 75 lakh women under the Ujjwala scheme, providing them with essential components. With this, the total Ujjwala beneficiaries will reach 10.35 crore.
